Openlands Lakeshore is closed indefinitely
Jan. 22, 2020 – Waves up to 23 feet tall with winds up to 50 mph rocked the shore on Jan. 11, eating away something like 15 feet of bluff and turning the road to the pump house into rubble. While Openlands draws up plans for repair, it requests everyone to refrain from trekking down the beachfront.

The assisted living license was updated to include a $5,000 fee for overusing emergency services for nonemergency transportation. And the city will be ending its fire alarm monitoring program May 1, 2020 (impacted businesses will likely need to find their own service).
Public Parking Lot to become 49-unit residential complex
Jan. 16, 2020 – A new planned development next to Highwood’s Rec Center will turn the city-owned parking lot into a 49-unit residential building. Koenitz-Hudac made the point that before moving forward with another high density project, he believes the City needs to show a comprehensive plan to protect and provide public parking in the affected area.
